Meet our Newest Resident Assistant: Cody Turner

July 28, 2025

As we bid farewell to Resident Assistant Patrick, we’re excited to welcome Cody Turner to the AIS-Salzburg resident staff team. Cody brings energy, experience, and a strong sense of mentorship to our boarding community. Stepping into the role of Resident Assistant and Physical Education Instructor, he’s eager to serve as a supportive “big brother” figure for our students both in the dormitory and on the playing field.

In this interview, we take a moment to get to know Cody before the school year kicks off.

Where are you from?

CT: I was born in Colorado but have lived all over the United States- from Maine to California- until I moved to Switzerland with my family during high school. Most recently, I spent three years in the United Kingdom at university and graduated this year.

What have you done academically and/or professionally prior to AIS-Salzburg?

CT: I recently finished my degree at Aberystwyth University, getting a Bachelor of Science in Geography. I also worked at a residential international summer program in Switzerland over the past four summers.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

CT: My whole life, I have loved sports, both as a participant and a spectator. I learned to ski and skate shortly after I could walk, and have been involved in both downhill skiing and ice hockey throughout my life. I also love ping pong, soccer, volleyball, and hiking, and have run annual ping pong tournaments at my summer job. Additionally, I have recently taken up disc golf, and it has become my favorite spare-time activity.

What led you to AIS-Salzburg?

CT: My family lives in Switzerland, so I was looking at boarding schools that are within Europe and reasonably close to them. Beyond that, I prioritized schools with international populations because I attended an international boarding school myself, and it was a formative experience for me. Plus, as I learned during my summer work, it’s great to see friendships formed between students from around the world. I wanted that to carry over into my academic-year work as well. Of course, I was looking for a location close to outdoor activities that I enjoy, such as skiing and hiking. Fun fact, though- Laura Fox was my English teacher when I lived in California. I loved learning from her, and I look forward to working with her and Kevin Fox in a professional capacity now.

What excites you most about working at AIS-Salzburg?

CT: There are a lot of things that I am looking forward to at AIS-Salzburg- too many to name here! I am looking forward to making a difference in the daily lives of the students, as well as sharing my passion for outdoor pursuits, international education, and activities that can bring people together.
