Qualifications for Teaching Faculty and Resident Assistant Positions

The administration of the American International School-Salzburg welcomes expressions of professional employment interest year-round.

Minimum qualifications for consideration for teaching faculty and administrative positions include (a) an advanced university degree from a North American, U.K. or Western European university in which English was the language of instruction, (b) at least two years teaching experience with excellent record and recommendations for teaching faculty positions, (c) and experience specific to the open position(s) at AIS-Salzburg.

Minimum qualifications for those seeking employment in the resident-care staff include (a) a university degree from a North American, U.K. or Western European university in which English was the language of instruction, (b) experience suitable for employment supervising adolescents in a dormitory setting (summer camp, previous boarding experience, etc.), and (c) strong recommendations and interest in a career in secondary education. Teaching certification is not required for resident-care staff positions at AIS-Salzburg. Please bear in mind that the administration may give preference to those candidates who are single and without dependents, speak German, or have previous professional experience in Salzburg, Austria or Western Europe. The American International School-Salzburg is expanding our teaching team!  Our American-curriculum, international boarding school, established in 1976 is looking for energetic, engaging and experienced teachers for the following positions for the 2021-2022 school year and beyond:
 
Full-Time Teacher of High School English (grades 9-11)
 
The position includes providing professional instruction to students in grades 9 through 11 in literature, composition, reading comprehension, grammar, vocabulary and speaking/listening. This is a full-time teaching position that requires a minimum of 3-5 years’ experience at the high school level with an appropriate university degree in the subject.  Candidates for this position should contact the headmaster directly at [email protected] for further information and possible interview.
 
Part-Time Teacher of German (as a second language, grades 7-12)
 
This position includes two hours of classroom instruction daily (half-time), Monday through Friday during the school year.  An appropriate background and experience teaching the German language is necessary although particular Austrian, Us or other certification is not required for consideration.  Interested candidates should send a resume and letter of interest to the headmaster at [email protected]salzburg.at in order to receive further information and set up a possible interview.
 
Part-Time Teacher of German and English (grades 7-12)
 
This tentative position may include one course in German as a second language and one course in lower-level English (junior high/grades 7-8).  This is a part-time position which includes two to three periods of instruction (50%-75% of full-time), Monday through Friday during the school year.  Appropriate experience and qualifications will be considered.  Specific Austrian, US or other instructional certification is not a requirement.  Interested candidates should send a letter of interest and resume to the headmaster at [email protected] in order to receive further information and set up a possible interview.
 
Summer German/English Teachers
 
During the AIS-Salzburg Summer Language Program, we require qualified instructors for engagement from July 4 through August 14, 2021 with students aged 10 through 17.  These positions are to be considered full-time during the three, two-week sessions from Monday through Friday.  Instruction takes place from 08:30 until 13:00 daily.  Candidates with an appropriate background should contact the AIS-Salzburg office staff at [email protected]
