Alcohol Permission Authorization

Purpose

AIS-Salzburg recognizes that Austrian law permits limited consumption of certain alcoholic beverages by older adolescents under specific circumstances. For boarding students who have reached seventeen (17) years of age, parents or legal guardians may grant permission for limited consumption of beer or wine under the conditions established by AIS-Salzburg and applicable Austrian law.

This authorization is entirely optional and may be granted, withheld, modified, or withdrawn by parents or guardians at any time.

Conditions of Permission

If permission is granted, the following conditions apply:

1. Consumption is limited to:

a) One glass of wine (approximately 100 ml), or

b) One serving of beer (approximately 285 ml)

2. Alcohol consumption is permitted only:

a. During approved free time,

b. In licensed restaurants or guesthouses,

c. While consuming a meal,

d. On Friday or Saturday evenings,

e. Before 21:30.

3. Consumption of spirits, hard liquor, mixed alcoholic drinks, shots, or similar beverages is strictly prohibited.

4. Bars, pubs, clubs, and establishments primarily devoted to the sale or consumption of alcohol remain off limits.

5. Purchase, possession, storage, or transportation of alcohol on school property is prohibited.

6. Students may not purchase alcohol for other students.

7. Any behavior that compromises student safety, community standards, supervision requirements, or child protection expectations may result in immediate suspension of this privilege.

8. The school administration reserves the right to determine whether alcohol has been consumed inappropriately or irresponsibly.

9. The administration may utilize breathalyzer testing or other reasonable means of assessment when concerns arise regarding student safety or compliance with school policy.

10. This privilege may be suspended or revoked at any time by:

a. Parents or guardians,

b. The Dean of Students,

c. The Headmaster,

d. The Disciplinary Committee,

e. The Child Protection Team.

Permission Not Granted — I do not authorize my child to consume alcoholic beverages under any circumstances while enrolled at AIS-Salzburg.

Parent Acknowledgement

This authorization applies only to the limited circumstances described above.
Alcohol consumption outside these parameters remains prohibited and may result in disciplinary action.
The school retains full authority to suspend or revoke this privilege when deemed necessary for safety, safeguarding, health, disciplinary, or community reasons.
Permission granted through this form does not exempt my child from any school rule, supervision requirement, or behavioral expectation.
