AIS-Salzburg maintains an open admission policy of welcoming students of any nationality, race, or religious faith.
To enroll at AIS-Salzburg, a student must have completed at least six years of formal, post-kindergarten schooling (for entrance into the seventh grade) and there must be strong evidence that a challenging, college-preparatory program in a boarding-school setting is appropriate. Students are considered for acceptance on the basis of previous success in academic endeavors as verified by official school transcripts and reports, recommendations from teachers, and the number of available openings in the school. AIS-Salzburg has no application deadline but it is advisable to apply before the end of April for enrollment in September.
Applications will be considered by the admissions committee when all of the following have been received by the school office:
- A completed and signed AIS-Salzburg student application form, together with a recent photograph and application fee of € 75.00
- A complete transcript of school records. Students applying for entrance into the tenth, eleventh, or twelfth grade must include all transcripts from grade nine onward. Students applying to enter the seventh or eighth grade should send transcripts from the most recently-completed year.
- Two academic references from the school the student now attends - one from the applicant's current English teacher and one from the applicant's current Mathematics teacher.
Non-native English speakers must have attained an adequate level of fluency in the English language to comprehend the content of courses taught at the school. A recently-taken TOEFL or SLEP examination score must be included with the application materials listed above. In some cases, the admissions committee may require an interview and placement testing at the school under certain circumstances.
The academic office will review the transcripts of all students transferring from other secondary school programs and transfer credit earned provided (1) coursework, curricular material, and the number of hours per week the course met is equivalent with AIS-Salzburg standards and (2) the course was passed with an average or higher grade.
New students are accepted to AIS-Salzburg at the beginning of the school year (usually early September), at the end of the first trimester (late November), and at the midpoint of the school year (mid-January). Please refer to the current academic year calendar for specific dates.
