 



Girls Volleyball Year Summary 2009-2010
Sept 24 vs VIS - 10-25, 14-25, 12-25 - The girls were overmatched by the much more experienced VIS squad who have an all senior starting line-up and who have played together since junior high.
Oct 2 vs VIS - 10-25, 16-25, 17-25 - the AIS-Salzburg Lady Lions showed much improvement in this re-match.
Oct 10 Festival in Bratislava - This event marked the first competitions amoung teams in the newly formed DVAC which include international schools in Austria, Hungary and Slovakia. Despite the lengthly journey to Bratislava, the Lady Lions of AIS-Salzburg played their best volleyball to date winning four of 6 games, with another ending in a tie.
Game 1: AISS vs. QSI (Bratislava)(25-20, 25-21)
Game 2: AISS vs. AIS Budapest (25-14, 25-14)
Game 3: AISS vs. ICS Budapest (20-25, 11-25)
Game 4: AISS vs. AIS Vienna (25-20, 20-25)
Game 5: AISS vs. Vienna Christian School (25-16, 25-14)
Game 6: AISS vs. Danube International School (25-14, 19- 25).
Oct .13 - In Bavaria, the Lions controlled the match from beginning until the end under the powerful serves and spikes of Desi Pavlevska and Geni Dimova. Karina Todorova did an outstanding job again as setter and with her back row passing. Kristin Doneva stepped up in the serving department as well as she went on a 6 point run at the service line. The Lions won in three straight sets, 25-10, 25-20, and 25-8.
Oct. 15 - Against MIS, the Lions continued to play well led by outstanding smashes by Dimova in the outside hitter postion. Danica Dimitrov and Karina provided the outside hitters with great sets thoughout the game. The Lions won again in three straight sets, 25-17, 25-18, 25-17.
Oct. 17 - Missing three starters, Lions fall to VCS in a thrilling 5 set match. 25-23, 18-25, 21-25, 25-22, and 11-15. Dasha Krylova had her best day in the setter position while Kristin Doneva played her best volleyball to date.
Nov. 3rd - vs AIS Vienna Varsity - Lions lose a heartbreaker after leading 2 games to 1 (25-23,15-25,25-15) and up 16-4 in the fourth set (off of a 12 point serving run by Dimova), the Knights come back eventually taking the fourth set 25-21, and the fifth and final set 15-8. The Lions have still never defeated the AIS Vienna varsity team, and this young group of stars came the closest with this effort.
Nov. 7th - LADY LIONS FINISH 3rd at the first annual Danube Valley Athletics Conference (DVAC) girls volleyball tournament, the Lady Lions were awarded the third place trophy and the satisfaction of finishing off a successfull season with a hard fought come-from-behind victory behind the strong serving of Danica Dimitrov (10 of 11), Desi Pavlevska (10 of 13) and Karina Todorova (8 of 10).

Game 3: vs VIS 19-25, 18-25
Semi Final vs ICSB: 20-25, 21-25
3rd Place match vs VCS: 24-26, 27-25, 15-8.
