Volleyball Season Opener Summary

The AIS-Salzburg Lions came home with one win and one loss last Thursday
night after facing off against the much larger Vienna International
School. The boys defeated the host Panthers in 4 straight sets with scores
of 23-25, 25-19,25-20, and 25-18. Coach Suttman was very pleased with the
performance of the boys as they controlled the ball well and played with
intensity.
The girls were not so fortunate as they lost all four of their sets 10-25,
14-25, 12-25, and 15-25. The girls were overmatched by the much more
experienced VIS squad who have an all senior starting line-up who have
played together since junior high. Despite the loss, coach Burns and Gold
are pleased with the potential that the girls possess and believe that
with further practice and game experience they can possibly beat a team of
VIS calibre by season end.
